How do you get a conversion van insured?

I bought an RV policy online for a Sprinter van, but it was canceled after underwriting. Where can I get insurance for it? I thought RV policies included vans.

Conversion vans fall between an RV and a regular van, so finding insurance isn’t always easy. If you’re looking to insure your Sprinter van, there are a couple of ways to go about it.
Find a
car insurance company
that will offer a Class B RV policy
  • This will protect any work you’ve done on the van and all of the things inside, so it’s especially handy to have if you’ve put your heart and soul into the car or have plenty of extras inside.
  • State Farm
and Progressive are two companies that offer Class B RV insurance.
Go to the Department of Transportation to register your van as a motorhome:
  • As long as it meets the criteria for motorhome status, the DOT is willing to register it as such. This can be helpful when trying to find an insurance policy for your van.
While it may be difficult to find insurance for your van, being upfront and honest with insurance companies will ensure you’re getting the proper policy.
