I’m about to go abroad for a semester. I want to freeze my car insurance since I won't be driving my car for a few months. How can I freeze my insurance?

A semester abroad sounds amazing! To freeze your
car insurance
, you’re going to have to contact your insurance company, either in person or via the phone. Not all companies let customers pause their coverage, so it may not be possible.
If your car insurance provider doesn’t allow freezing, you have two options.
One is to
cancel your car insurance
while you’re away. The negative here is you will have a coverage gap.
The other is maintaining the
minimum amount of car insurance
required in your state or keeping
storage only insurance
. These would eliminate the possibility of the gap, lessen your headache about suspending, and be probably the easiest to do. The downside is you’d still have to pay your insurance while away.
