How do you fix a cracked bumper lip?

I was pulling out of a steep driveway the other day and my bumper hit the ground pretty hard. Is there a way to fix a cracked bumper lip?

I’m sorry to hear about the damage to your car. Thankfully, fixing a cracked bumper lip is relatively easy and shouldn’t cost you an arm and a leg.
To fix a cracked bumper lip, you can:
  • Seal the crack using epoxies or bonding materials. You can purchase these online or at most auto shops. Once you align the crack, apply the product as instructed and let it dry before driving.
  • Use a patch kit for more extensive damage or if any plastic pieces are missing. Patch kits are available online or at most auto shops and will include instructions on repairing the crack.
  • Weld the crack closed using a soldering iron. While a bit more of a complex process, it’s an easy solution if you happen to have a soldering iron.
After repairing the crack, you may also need to
paint over the repair
so that it matches the rest of your car. A repair shop can normally paint a bumper for less than $200. You also have the option to paint it yourself.
If you prefer to let a professional repair and paint the cracked bumper, you can make the most of your wait time by saving on your
