How do you fix a car's radio light?

My car's radio display is broken. The music sometimes plays okay, but the light isn't working, so I can't see anything. I miss listening to music in the car—so how do I fix this?

“A broken radio light is not fun! Luckily, there are several things you can try to fix your car’s radio light.
If the display on your
car’s radio
is broken, it’s likely due to one of these issues:
  • The dimmer has been turned down. While it seems silly, it could have gotten turned down accidentally. If you have a control to dim your display, confirm that it hasn’t be turned down.
  • A faulty illumination wire. In some cases, the illumination wire that attaches the dimmer switch to your radio could be faulty. Luckily, most repair shops or dealerships should be able to fix this for you.
  • A blown fuse. It may be that the fuse has blown in the radio or display. Unless you feel comfortable taking apart your radio or dashboard, you can have a repair shop or dealership look into the issue.
  • The display and radio could be wet or defective. If a repair shop can’t figure out the reason behind the broken display, they’ll likely check the wiring to make sure it’s working properly and isn’t wet for any reason.
If you do take your car to an auto shop, repairs can be a little pricey—so while you’re waiting on the estimate, you might want to look into other ways to save a bit of money. One great way to save on car insurance is to use the
