How do you fix a car radio that got wet?

I accidentally left the front windows of my car open during a rainstorm. So much water blew into my car, and I can tell my radio got pretty wet. I’m scared to turn it back on. How do I fix a car radio that got wet?

Yikes—it’s always unfortunate when you leave the windows down in bad weather. Depending on the extent of the water damage, your radio may not be able to work again. But before you run off to get a replacement, try the following steps:
  • Remove the waterlogged parts (if possible)
  • Use a towel to dry the affected areas
  • Then, gently blow-dry the affected areas with a hair dryer or fan on the lowest heat setting
  • Let the parts dry in a ventilated area—if you couldn’t remove anything, consider running your car’s AC for a while to remove moisture
Even if your radio dries successfully, you’ll need to power it on again to see if it works. If it doesn’t, you may want to invest in a new one.
Although car insurance likely won’t cover water damage due to leaving your windows open in a rainstorm, now might be a good time to review affordable car insurance quotes with
