How do you fix a car door making noise?
My car door hinge has been squeaking recently and slowly driving me crazy. It started as a small quiet squeak, but now it happens every time I open or close the door. Is there a way to fix the car door noise?

Having to listen to a squeak every time you get in or out of your car can undoubtedly get frustrating, but fortunately it’s easy to fix a car door making noise.
To fix the car door noise, you’ll need lubricant and possibly some steel wool if the hinge is rusty. Thankfully, you don’t need any fancy lubricant and can use any of the following:
- WD-40
- White lithium grease
- Silicone spray
- Graphite lubricant
- Hairspray
- Bar of soap
Of course, using hairspray or a bar of soap isn’t the best solution, but if that’s all you have, it’ll get the job done.
Once you have your lubricant, you should:
- Apply the lubricant to both the upper and lower hinge. Even if only one hinge is squeaking, you should still apply lubricant to both as the manufacturer’s grease has likely worn away.
- Move the door back and forth to work the lubricant into the hinge mechanism.
- Use steel wool, if necessary, to scrub away any surface rust once the lubricant has had time to penetrate the hinges
