How do you find out where your car was towed?

I walked out of a doctor's appointment this morning and couldn’t find my car. Such a scary feeling! I think it was towed, but I'm not sure where to check. What’s the best way to find out where a car was towed?

You can find a towed vehicle by license plate number by checking your city's towed vehicle locator website. 
For example, if you live in Los Angeles, you’ll check the Los Angeles Official Police Garages website.
You will need the following information to conduct your search:
  • License plate number
  • State the plates were issued
  • Vehicle identification number (VIN)
No matter where you live, you can follow these steps or similar to find a towed vehicle by license plate number. You can also try calling the city’s police department or 311.
