How do you find an old car insurance policy?

Some paperwork I’m filing wants to know what all of my past insurance looked like and the details of my policies. I don’t remember, since I’ve switched insurance several times in the last decade. How can I find this information?

There’s a good chance your local DMV will have your car insurance history on file. Another place you can check is with your state department, though this varies from place to place. Certain states even have their own insurance department you can contact.
If you can’t get in contact with a state representative, you can always try to reach out to your current insurance company and ask them if they know which company you swapped over from. You can also request a copy of your clue report.
At home, you can check your email history or bank statements for the name of your previous provider and potential clues about your coverage type.
Good luck with your paperwork! If you have any questions about insurance policies or are looking to switch providers again,
