I’ve had an awful experience with my car insurance company. How do I file a complaint?

I’m so sorry you’ve had an awful experience. Depending on what level you want to file your complaint, there are several things you can do:
  • Contact your insurance agent to file a complaint with them
  • Write up a negative review and post it on a site like J.D. Power
  • Write to your state’s insurance department to file a complaint
  • Take legal action and use an ombudsman to mediate
An ombudsman is someone appointed by the government whose job is to investigate complaints from everyday people against corporations, such as your car insurance company.
