How do you drive an electric car in the snow?

I’m thinking about getting my first electric car, but I live in an area that gets a lot of snow. Can electric cars drive in the snow?

While you should be able to drive your
electric car
just fine in snowy weather, here are a few tips for maximum efficiency and safety.
  • Keep your battery charged at least 20% at all times.
  • Park your car in a sunny or insulated area so that your battery can stay warm.
  • Give your car a few minutes to warm up before you start driving. Thankfully many electric cars come with remote start.
  • Don’t speed. This goes for all drivers in snowy conditions, but electric cars especially can lose power when maintaining high speeds.
