How do you cut Honda springs?
I’d like to lower my Honda a little bit. I know how to get the coils off, but I’m not sure how to safely shorten them. What’s the best way to cut my Honda’s coil springs?

handle modifications like lowering the car. That said, it’s a manageable process when you have the right tools and take it one step at a time.Follow these steps to safely cut your Honda coil springs:
- Start by using a jack to raise your car and take off the wheel.
- Carefully remove the struts by following the directions outlined in your owner’s manual. Struts will vary from car to car, so certain safety procedures may be specific to your vehicle.
- Measure the compressed coil length.
- Use a coil compressor to remove the coil—a coil compressor will help you slowly extend the spring without the risk of injury.
- Add one inch of length to the height of your old coil and mark that spot on your new coil. That is the shortest you can make your coil.
- Use an angle grinder to cut the spring. If you don’t have one, a hacksaw should also work well.
- Reinstall the coil, reattach your tires, lower the car, and repeat the same process on every wheel.
