How do you connect to Bluetooth in a Ford Freestyle?

I’m borrowing my friend’s old Ford Freestyle. Can I connect my phone via Bluetooth to listen to music?

Your
Ford Freestyle
may or may not have Bluetooth capabilities, depending on its year and trim level.
If you have access to the vehicle’s owner’s manual, you can check it to see if it has SYNC, which is Ford’s infotainment system. You can also look for the “SYNC” badge on the dashboard near the controls. Some older models may only be able to make and receive calls via Bluetooth. If that’s the case, you’ll have to connect your phone through an auxiliary port, if the car has one. If not, you’ll have to stick to the radio.
If your Freestyle does have Bluetooth capabilities, here’s how you can get your phone all synced up:
  • Make sure Bluetooth is activated on your mobile device.
  • On the SYNC multimedia system, press Phone > Add Phone. The system is now discoverable from your mobile device and may display a unique PIN.
  • On your mobile device, select your Ford SYNC system in the Bluetooth menu. The two will now begin pairing, and your SYNC screen will confirm the pairing request.
