How do you connect to Apple CarPlay in a BMW?

I recently purchased a brand new BMW, and I want to set up Apple CarPlay. The problem is I’m not the most tech-savvy person. How do you use Apple CarPlay?

! Figuring out the features of a new vehicle can be tricky, but connecting to Apple CarPlay should only take a few minutes.
To connect to Apple CarPlay in your BMW, you should:
  1. Open your phone and go to Settings > General > CarPlay to enter pairing mode.
  2. Locate and open your car’s Com menu using the display screen.
  3. Select Mobile devices and then New device.
  4. Select Phone calls and audio and then choose your iPhone from the list displayed on the screen.
  5. Hit Pair on your phone and follow any additional prompts.
  6. Select Confirm note and connect to Apple CarPlay on your car’s display screen.
Additionally, to switch between your car’s iDrive program and CarPlay, you can:
  1. Open the Com menu in your car and select Mobile devices and the device you want to connect.
  2. Select Connection mode and choose between BMW iDrive or Apple CarPlay.
