How do you connect Bluetooth to a 2009 Chevy Silverado?

My dad gave me his old truck. We’ve known it has Bluetooth, but we never figured out how to connect a phone. How do you connect Bluetooth to a 2009 Chevy Silverado?

That sounds like a generous gift! Good news here: connecting a Bluetooth device to a 2009
Chevrolet Silverado
is just a matter of taking several easy steps.
Here’s how you can connect a Bluetooth device to your Chevy:
  • Press and hold the push-to-talk button on the steering wheel
  • Say “Bluetooth” and listen for a “Bluetooth ready” response
  • Say “Pair”
  • From your device’s Bluetooth settings, locate your Silverado in the available connections
  • Listen for the prompt from your vehicle giving you a PIN code (it will be spoken and appear on your instrument cluster)
  • Select your vehicle from the available connections and enter the PIN code
  • Select “pair” on your device
  • When prompted by your vehicle, name your device for future connections
Keep in mind, though, that this feature is primarily for making hands-free phone calls, so you won’t be able to stream music from your phone with this feature. Luckily, if you’re looking for this capability, there are plenty of aftermarket
Bluetooth adapters for older cars
that will allow you to do just that.
As you continue learning the ins and outs of your new-to-you
Chevy
, remember to make sure it’s protected by the right
car insurance
policy!
