How do you clean scratches on a car windshield?

What's a good way to clean scratches on a car windshield? There are a bunch of tiny scratches on my windshield, and I feel like it hurts my visibility. If possible, I'd like to get rid of them.

If you feel your visibility is limited from scratches on your windshield, have a professional fix your windshield. But if the scratches are only a small nuisance, follow these steps to get rid of them:
  • Clean the windshield
and use a microfiber cloth to dry the glass.
  • Put some toothpaste on a microfiber cloth and rub the cloth over the scratch in circular motions for about 30-40 seconds. Note, you cannot use gel-based toothpaste to repair scratches.
  • Wipe off the toothpaste with a damp cloth and dry the glass.
After that, the scratch should be gone! You can try the whole process one more time if the scratch is still there. But if it isn’t gone after the second round, the scratch is probably too deep for a home repair. At that point, it might be time to see a professional.
