How do you clean milk from car upholstery?
What’s the best way to clean milk from car upholstery? I know it’s going to smell so bad if I don’t clean it up perfectly, but I’m not even sure where to start.
No use crying! Here’s how to clean spilled milk from car upholstery:
- First, mop up as much as you can as quickly as you can. Use a cloth towel for this, and try to absorb as much of the milk as possible without rubbing the area, as rubbing at the spill will push the milk further into the upholstery.
- If you can, use a steam cleaner to draw out as much of the milk as you can and kill some of the bacteria.
- You can also use some baking soda to neutralize the smell. Cover the affected area in baking soda and let it sit for three days before vacuuming up the soda. If the smell doesn’t go away, repeat this process and use a soft-bristled brush to rub the soda into the fabric.
- Finally, use an enzyme spray like Nature’s Miracle to neutralize the last of the milk and break down the bacteria. You’ll probably have to use the spray more than once to fully get rid of the smell.
While you’re waiting for the baking soda to soak up the smell, why not take a minute to save some money on your car insurance?
