What’s the best way to clean up car battery acid? We had a bit of an incident with an old car battery, and I want to make sure I clean my floors properly.

Car batteries are a tricky mess to clean up. But try not to worry! You can clean car battery acid with baking soda.
Before you get started, take steps to stay safe.

- goggles, and
- a mask.
From there, you can follow these steps to clean up the battery acid:
- Cover the spill with baking soda until it stops fizzing and bubbling.
- Wipe up the acid-soaked baking soda with a towel and throw them away.
- Then, clean up the area with a mix of baking soda and water.
- Make sure to put the old battery and any acid-soaked items in a double trash bag.
- Contact a local junkyard or auto-repair shop for proper disposal instructions.
