How do you check the tire pressure on a 2017 Honda Accord?

A friend of mine recently had a tire blowout that caused a minor accident. Her mechanic said that it was due to low tire pressure. I really don’t want something like that happening to me. I’ve never checked my tire pressure before. How can I check it in my 2017 Honda Accord?

Oh no, I’m sure that was terrifying! Generally, low tire pressure will lead to poor gas mileage or negatively impact your car’s handling, but in some extreme cases, it can lead to a tire blowout.
Since you have a newer car, you should receive a notification on your dashboard indicating low tire pressure. If you do not get this notification, and you want to be sure for yourself, you have two options:
  • You can purchase a high-quality tire pressure gauge and it will tell you your tire pressure.
  • You can use an air pump with a pressure gauge. Most air pumps at gas stations allow you to set the pressure to a certain value. It will automatically stop filling and alert you when your tires have reached that pressure.
For either of these options, check the sticker on your driver’s side door jamb. It will tell you the proper pressure or PSI for each tire. Your

owner’s manual will also list it.
