My car started making some weird sounds. My friend’s mom said I might be low on steering fluid. She’s usually right about these things, so I’d like to check—but I don’t know how! What’s the best way to check the power steering fluid in my Toyota Corolla?

Checking your steering fluid is an important part of any
car maintenance schedule
. When the fluid gets too low, steering can become extremely difficult. Because of this, you should follow these steps to periodically check the power steering fluid in your Toyota Corolla
:- Park your car on a level surface and leave it off for five hours.
- Open your hoodand find the power steering fluid reservoir. It will typically be a clear plastic cylinder with the words Power Steering printed on top. It’s usually near the firewall on the driver’s side.
- Wipe off the outside of the reservoir so you can see the level. If it reaches the marked Cold level, then it’s good!
- If the level is too low, fill it with fluid until it reaches the right level. You can find out which type of fluid you need by checking your owner’s manual.
