How do I check the oil level on my new BMW F650GS? I’ve never owned a motorcycle before and the last owner told me that you had to check the oil a different way, but I forget what he said.

Congratulations on your new bike! There’s a lot to remember when you get a new vehicle, but thankfully, it’s easy to check the oil level on a BMW F650GS by following these steps:
First, ride the bike for at least 30 minutes to get the engine warmed up. The F650GS has a dry-sump oil system, meaning a lot of the oil is stored inside the body of the bike. Checking the oil without warming up the bike first will give you an inaccurate reading.
Park your bike on solid ground and let it sit for at least two minutes.
To check the oil level, you can either check the dipstick or look through the sight glass to ensure your oil level is where it needs to be.
If your oil level isn’t where it should be, you can either change the oil yourself or have a professional do it.
