How do you check the oil in a Toyota Camry?

Can I check the oil in my Toyota Camry at home? I don’t have a display that tells me when I need an oil change, so I’m not really sure how to look at my oil level.

It’s important to keep an eye on your car’s oil, so it’s great that you’re learning how to do this. Here’s how to check the oil level in your
Toyota Camry
:
  1. Park your car in a level area. Allow your engine to cool for a few minutes.
  2. Open the hood
and find the oil dipstick, which will usually be yellow.
  3. Carefully remove the dipstick and wipe it clean using a paper towel or clean cloth.
  4. Once the dipstick is clean, put it back in the car, trying not to touch the sides of the tube as you do so.
  5. Remove the dipstick one more time and check the oil level. If the level is between the dipstick’s two indicator lines, you should be good. If you notice that the oil has a gritty or dirty appearance or below the indicator lines, it’s probably time for an oil change.
