How do you check the oil in a BMW?
What steps should I take to check the oil level in my BMW? I used a dipstick in my old car, but I think there’s another way to do it with my new car. I’m just not sure how.

Dipsticks are a tried and tested way to check your oil levels. But some newer cars have evolved to more elegant methods. Now you can follow these steps to check the oil in your BMW without making a mess:
- First, park your car on level ground.
- Then, turn it on and let it run for a minute.
- Using your steering wheel controls, scroll through the display options beneath your gauges until you see the oil lamp symbol.
- Press the BC button on your dashboard. You should see a small bar on the screen with a clock beneath it.
- When the clock hands stop moving, you’ll be able to read your oil level!
- If it says MAX, your oil level is full.
