How do you check if you’re insured on a car?

I’ve been away at college for a while, but I’m going home for a couple of months. I’m planning to drive my parents’ car while at home. How do I make sure I'm still insured on their car?

You should still be covered by your parents’ car insurance, even if you went away for a while. This is because car insurance generally
follows the car
, not the driver.
The best way to confirm that you’re still covered is to ask your parents to check for your name on the policy. You’re likely good to go if you see your name, unless your status was changed to that of an excluded driver.
If this is the case, you can look at
non-owner insurance
, which normally provides coverage for people who borrow or rent cars.
