How do you check for your car insurance online?

When you’re going through major life changes, you don’t want to add any more hassles to your life. Fortunately, it shouldn’t be too hard to check if you have

. You may have to check with your partner to see if they have a record of the policy through either an identification card or through previous bank statements. If you have an insurance policy—as is required in every state—you should have an insurance identification number on your insurance card.
You should have a copy of your insurance card in your glove compartment, which would contain that information, as well as the expiration date on the policy. You can use this information to check your provider’s online portal to see the details of your policy.
If you cannot contact your partner, you can check joint bank statements to see if there were payments to major carriers. Once you’ve tried that, you could try getting a new insurance quote. Often, insurance agents can run a CLUE Report, which will provide information on your current carrier, as well as information about whether your policy is up-to-date.
