I’m thinking of buying a lithium electric car, but I want to be sure I can charge it easily no matter where I am. How do you charge a lith electric car?

Good question! Charging an electric car is user friendly, and your electric car should come with some of what you need. There are four main places you’ll charge your electric car; home, work, public locations and service stations.
You’ve got a few options for charging your
electric car
at home. All electric cars come with a plug that’s compatible with your standard three-prong plugs in your home. These are called Type 1 charging stations. This would go from your car to the wall.
While you can definitely use this to charge, it’s going to take longer and won’t have all the same safety features to protect your vehicle and home.
Another option is to install a dedicated home charger, which is considered Type 2. This lets you recharge your vehicle overnight, has safety features, and some models can even be controlled from your smartphone. Dedicated chargers have a cable attached that you then plug into your car.
If your office is one of the many that have been installing EV charging stations as a perk for employees, this might be a good option to make sure your car stays tip-top all the time. Depending on the charging station, Type 1 or Type 2, you’ll probably need to bring a charger cable with you.
Public charging is emerging as a great way for businesses to incentivize clients to shop there. You’ll need to bring your charging cable along for these, and sometimes download an app in order to start the charging.
When you go for a road trip, or you forgot to plug in while you were home, you’ll need to make use of service stations that offer
electric vehicle charging
.
These high-speed chargers can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, depending on the kind of rapid charger, and have their own cables attached, so you don’t need to worry about bringing your own.
Whether your car is electric or gas, you always need insurance.
