How do you charge a car battery with an electric charger?

My car has died overnight a few times in the last year, and I’m tired of getting AAA out to jump it. I bought an electric battery charger so next time I can charge it myself. How do you charge a car battery with an electric charger?

Great question! An electric charger is a great thing to have for those days when your car sat a little longer than normal and won’t start. They’re also easy to use. When using a battery charger, do it safely, being careful with the battery and protect your eyes from any sparks that may come out.
Whether you have your electric charger as part of your emergency kit, or you’re using it to maintain a battery for a vehicle you don’t use often, they’re a great tool to have around to make sure your car is always ready when you need it.
Connecting the battery charger to your battery is similar to connecting your jumper cables when jump starting your car. Start with connecting the red positive clip to the red positive port on the battery. The black negative clip gets connected to a bolt connected to the body of the vehicle. This is called grounding and it’s very important for safety purposes.
Keep an eye on the meter on the charger to make sure you don’t overcharge the battery. Overcharging it can cause damage to your battery and vehicle.
Once the battery is charged, disconnect the black cable first, then the red. Don’t ever touch the cables together.
To make sure your car is always ready to go, make sure your insurance is perfect for your needs.
