How do you change the serpentine belt on a 2005 Toyota Camry?

The power steering and alternator are both struggling on my old Camry. After talking to a mechanic friend of mine, he suggested that I replace the serpentine belt. I’m just not sure how to do it. How do I change the serpentine belt on my 2005 Toyota Camry?

Since both the alternator and power steering are acting up, your friend is probably right that the serpentine belt is the culprit. The good news is replacing it is relatively easy, even for a novice mechanic!
Follow these steps to change the serpentine belt on a 2005
Toyota Camry
:
  1. Print out a schematic for your 2005 Toyota Camry’s engine components.
  2. Look for the serpentine belt in the front left of the engine compartment.
  3. Use a ratchet to remove the tension on the serpentine belt.
  4. Pull off the belt gently. If it gets stuck, resist the urge to pull hard. Just use your other hand to release it.
  5. Make sure that your new serpentine belt matches the width and length of your old serpentine belt.
  6. Put the belt on, starting in the back. This will take some patience, so try not to pull your hair out while doing it.
  7. Once you get it on the back, run it to the front.
  8. Make sure the belt is securely on all of the pulleys.
  9. Tighten the bolt or tensioner until the serpentine belt is firmly in place.
After successfully replacing the serpentine belt, you’re probably feeling pretty proud of yourself. So why not ride that high into new savings by downloading the
