How do you change the oil on a 2012 Ford Focus?

I’m pretty handy with cars, so I’m helping out my sister with hers. I need to do an oil change, but I’ve never done one on this make and model. How do you change the oil on a 2012 Ford Focus?

How nice of you to help out your sister, I’m sure she appreciates it!
To change the oil on a
2012 Ford Focus
, just follow these steps:
  • Run the engine for a few minutes, then turn it off
  • Open the hood and remove the oil cap
  • Place a drain pan under the drainage bolt, then remove the drainage bolt
  • Let the oil drain out into the drain pan
  • Once all the oil has drained, remove the oil filter
  • Apply a thin film of oil on the new oil filter and attach it in place
  • Reattach the drainage bolt
  • Using a funnel in the spot you removed the oil cap from, pour in about 4 quarts of oil
  • Use the dipstick to check the fill level is between the two holes and add more oil if needed
It’s fairly simple to do an oil change by yourself—and it’s even easier to start saving on
