How do you change the oil on a 2012 Ford Focus?
I’m pretty handy with cars, so I’m helping out my sister with hers. I need to do an oil change, but I’ve never done one on this make and model. How do you change the oil on a 2012 Ford Focus?

- Run the engine for a few minutes, then turn it off
- Open the hood and remove the oil cap
- Place a drain pan under the drainage bolt, then remove the drainage bolt
- Let the oil drain out into the drain pan
- Once all the oil has drained, remove the oil filter
- Apply a thin film of oil on the new oil filter and attach it in place
- Reattach the drainage bolt
- Using a funnel in the spot you removed the oil cap from, pour in about 4 quarts of oil
- Use the dipstick to check the fill level is between the two holes and add more oil if needed
