How do you change the oil in a Toyota Tacoma?
It would make me feel a lot safer if I didn’t have to go out in public right now because I’m immunocompromised and afraid of COVID. Can I do a Toyota Tacoma oil change myself?

That’s completely understandable. While you can change the oil in a
Toyota Tacoma
yourself, note that the process is a bit messy and requires a few tools.But if you’re up for the task, these are the steps you’ll need to follow:
- Before you begin,secure your truck on jack standsor otherwise elevate the vehicle so that you can safely access its underside.
- Locate the oil drain plug under the front of your truck.
- Put your drip pan or another receptacle under the oil plug, then loosen the drain plug by twisting it counterclockwise with a socket wrench.
- Carefully, remove the filter by using a wrench to turn it counterclockwise.
- Put a little bit of fresh oil on the edge of your new filter, then tighten it into place using your hands.
- Make sure that all of the old oil has drained into the pan, then replace the drain plug. Set your 14-mm torque wrench to 32 ft-lbs when you do this to ensure that the plug is properly tightened.
- Under the hood, find the oil filler cap and remove it by twisting it counterclockwise.
- Use a funnel to add new oil to your engine. Start with five quarts of oil.
- Turn on your truck and let it idle for five minutes before turning off the engine.
- Use the dipstick to make sure that you have the right amount of oil in your vehicle.
