How do you change the oil filter on a 2017 Toyota Camry?

I know I should change the oil filter on my 2017 Toyota Camry when I change the oil, but I don’t really know how to do it. Changing the oil isn’t that hard, but I’m not sure how to replace the filter.

It’s awesome that you can change the oil in your car yourself, but you’re right—replacing the filter is important, too. You can change the oil filter on a 2017 Toyota Camry by following these steps:
  1. If you’re already changing the oil in your car, I’ll assume that your car is on jack stands and you’ve removed the skid plate in order to drain the old oil from your engine.
  2. The oil filter is a blue canister located near the oil drain plug. To remove it, you’ll need a filter wrench.
  3. Once you’ve removed the old filter, compare it to your new filter to make sure that they look the same. Installing the wrong kind of filter can damage your engine.
  4. Then, screw on the old filter. Most filters will have specific tightening instructions, so check the box to make sure that you tighten your new filter to the proper level.
  5. Once you’ve tightened in your new filter, you can proceed with your oil change as normal.
