How do you change the engine air filter in a 2016 Honda Civic?
My engine performance has been down lately, and a friend of mine said it might be because of a clogged air filter. What steps should I take to change the engine air filter in my Civic?

Changing your air filter every 12,000 to 15,000 miles is an essential part of
car maintenance
. Luckily, Honda has made the whole process as easy as possible with its newer models.Follow these steps to change the engine air filter in your 2016 Honda Civic:
- Put the vehicle in park and activate the emergency brake.
- Pop the hood and secure it in an upright position.
- Locate the air filter—it should look like a curved box on the middle-right side of your engine block.
- Take out the metal clips securing the housing.
- Lift the housing and pull out the engine air filter.
- Slip your new filter into place, taking extra care to make sure it’s situated in the same position as the old one.
- Close the housing and replace the clips.
- Shut your hood.
While it may seem intimidating, changing your air filter should be easy if you follow these steps! Remember, a clogged air filter can lead to low engine performance, lower gas mileage, and even smoke! Change it regularly to avoid big issues in the long run.
