How do you change the engine air filter in a 2012 Honda Civic?

Is there a way for me to change the engine air filter on my 2012 Honda Civic without taking it to a shop? I’d rather do it myself if I can since it would be cheaper.

DIY
car maintenance
is a great way to save money and keep your car lasting longer.
Here are the steps you’ll need to follow to change the engine air filter on your 2012 Honda Civic:
  • First,
    open the hood
of your Honda. There should be an anchor laying along the ledge in front of the radiator, which you can use to prop the hood open.
  • Now, you should be able to locate your air filter in a black plastic box just to the right of the valve cover. If you have trouble finding the filter, check your owner’s manual for the location.
  • Push the four clips on the sides away from the box so that you can lift the cover.
  • Remove the old air filter and replace it with your new filter.
  • Then, place the cover back on the box and secure it with the four clips. You can throw away your old filter!
