I took my car in for an oil change, and the mechanic recommended changing the cabin air filter. When I looked at the pricing, I saw that the part was $15 and the labor was $100. My bestie says that it is easy to change that yourself and save some money, so I am going to give it a shot. How do you change the cabin air filter in a 2014 Kia Forte?

routine maintenance tasks
for car owners. Lots of drivers take care of this one themselves since you don’t need tools or special equipment to do it.
To change the cabin air filter in a 2014
Kia Forte
, you will need to remove the glove compartment—but it is easier than it sounds.
Here is what you need to do:
  • Open the glove box. Locate the two circular stoppers (one on each side of the glove box).
  • Turn the stoppers 1/4 turn counterclockwise and pull them out.
  • Carefully lower the glove compartment down towards the floor.
  • Locate the cabin air filter cover, pinch together the two fasteners on each side of the cover and then pull it straight off.
  • Pull the used cabin air filter out.
  • Slide the new cabin air filter back in. Make sure the airflow direction arrow is pointing down.
  • Line up the cabin air filter cover and push it until both of the fasteners click into place.
  • Insert the two side stoppers back in and turn them clockwise.
  • Replace the retainer arm by clipping it back into place.
