, follow these steps:- Park your car on level ground. If you’d like, you can alsoplace your car on jack standsto make it easier to access the transmission fluid drain pan.
- Under your hood, locate the transmission fluid filler tube and remove the dipstick. Replace it with a funnel.
- Place a drip pan beneath the transmission fluid drain pan, then use a socket wrench to remove the drain plug.
- Allow the old transmission fluid to drain into the pan.
- Using your socket wrench, carefully remove the bolts holding the fluid pan in place.
- After you remove the fluid pan, remove the bolts holding the strainer in place. Then, carefully remove the strainer as well.
- Drain any additional fluid, then clean the fluid pan and strainer before replacing them in their original positions. Be sure to replace the drain plug, as well.
- Now, it’s time to add more fluid. Carefully, pour new transmission fluid into the funnel that you placed in the filler tube, checking the level with your dipstick as you go.
- Once you’ve filled up the transmission fluid reservoir to its appropriate level, turn on your car and let it idle for three to five minutes.
- Turn your car back off and check your transmission fluid level. If necessary, add more fluid.
