owners will need to replace their battery. Luckily, the process is straightforward, but it does vary a bit, depending upon your vehicle year and model.
The steps below outlines the general procedure, but you may also want to consult your owner’s manual if this is the first time you are replacing the battery.
  • Consult your owner’s manual to determine what kind of battery you’ll need.
  • If you have a fob that contains an emergency key inside, you’ll want to take out the key first. If you don’t have this kind of fob, move to the next step.
  • Look around the perimeter of the fob for a slot where the extra key or a small screwdriver or butter knife will fit.
  • Gently use the key, screwdriver head, or butter knife to pry open the fob.
  • Swap out the old battery for the new one. Be sure the battery is installed correctly–consult the direction on the battery’s package.|
  • Put the fob back together.
