How do you change a Toyota Camry headlight bulb?

I got a fix-it ticket for one of the headlights on my car. I’d like to avoid paying for the ticket, and if possible, I’d rather not pay for a mechanic. What’s the best way to change a Toyota Camry headlight bulb on my own?

Since fix-it tickets are warnings, they aren’t the worst type of ticket to receive—so try not to worry. That said, it’s best to get your headlights fixed as soon as possible. Follow these steps to change your
Toyota Camry
headlight bulbs:
  1. Check your owner’s manual for the type of headlight bulbs you need.
  2. Once you have your bulbs,
    open the hood
and make your way to the front of the car.
  3. On the opposite side of the headlights, you should see two plugs. The one nearest the side of the car is the low beam and the one closest to the center is the high beam.
  4. To remove either headlight, twist it counterclockwise and pull it straight out. You should now have the headlight assembly in your hand.
  5. Press the tab on the bulb’s base and pull it straight away from the assembly.
  6. Push your new bulb into the slot where the old one was.
  7. Reinsert the headlight assembly by sticking it back through the hole. Then, twist it clockwise to lock it in place.
  8. Close your hood and test it out!
Hopefully, those steps will help you change your Toyota Camry’s headlight bulbs! Remember, the method is the same for both sides of your car, but you’ll have less space to work with on your driver’s side because of the battery.
