How do you change a Honda key fob battery?

Is it hard to change a Honda key fob battery? I’ve been having trouble getting my car unlocked lately and I think that’s the problem. But I’m not very good with cars or tech, so I hesitate to replace the battery myself.

It’s actually pretty easy to change a Honda
key fob
battery! You’ll just need a small jeweler’s screwdriver and a flathead screwdriver.
Here’s what to do:
  • First, check the back of your key fob for a label, which should tell you what kind of battery to purchase.
  • Once you have your new battery ready, use the jeweler’s screwdriver to unscrew the screw in your key fob.
  • When you remove the screw, you should be able to carefully pry open the key fob with the flathead screwdriver.
  • Note where the negative and positive terminals of the battery are located, then remove the battery with your fingers. Try not to touch the terminals as you do this!
  • Finally, replace the old battery with your new one. Make sure that the terminals line up.
  • Then, you can click the halves back together, reinsert the screw, and test out your key fob!
