.Most cars nowadays have electric windows. Power windows are great, but if you love that sense of nostalgia that comes with a hand crank, you can still get that.
With some parts from your local mechanic shop, or a manual window kit from online, you can switch your car from automatic to manual.
The first step is to disconnect the battery. You’ll be playing with wires, and electrocution isn’t fun for anyone. Remove the panel on the inside of the door, setting it aside to reattach later.
Locate and remove the window regulator motor. The gears that connect to this should be compatible for both motor windows and hand crank motors, so those can stay. Insert your hand crack into the gears, then secure. Depending on the model, you may need to get a whole new regulator set up to accommodate a hand crank.
Pop the door panel on. The hand crank should be seated against the bolt sticking out of the door panel. You might already have the hole, or you might have to drill it. Triple check that everything is done, test the hand crank, and reconnect your battery safely.
