I got pulled over today because one of my brake lights is out. Luckily I was let go with a warning, but now I need to replace the brake light. How do you change a brake light in a Toyota Corolla?

I’m sorry to hear you got pulled over—brake lights are necessary for road safety (and avoiding tickets)!
Luckily, replacing a brake light is a simple process. Follow these steps to change a brake light in a
Toyota Corolla
:
  • Pop the trunk and find the square fabric access cover
  • Remove the cover to access the turn signal and brake light bulb sockets. The brake light bulb socket is the upper tan-colored socket.
  • Grab the socket, turn it ¼ turn counterclockwise, and pull it out of the tail light assembly
  • Pull out the bulb from the socket
  • Insert the new bulb into the brake light socket, then insert the socket back into the tail light assembly and turn it ¼ turn clockwise
  • Test the bulb to make sure it works, then replace the fabric access cover
Your owner’s manual will tell you what kind of bulb you need to get for your car model.
