“To become a
car insurance
appraiser, you’ll need to get the proper education.
As a car insurance appraiser, you are required to have in-depth knowledge of cars. Part of your job is to look at the damage from an accident and determine an accurate price for repairs. So consider getting a certification in auto body repair or something similar.
Depending on where you live, you may also be required to hold an insurance appraiser license. Search online or contact the Department of Insurance or Department of Financial Services to determine your state’s licensing requirements for working in insurance.
If you prefer to work for an insurance company instead of as an independent contractor, you could also look into which insurance companies might sponsor your education. Many will pay for courses or certifications upon hire.
Since you’re interested in the industry, you likely understand the importance of having great coverage on your vehicle. Ensure you have the policy you need—and aren’t overpaying for it—by shopping around.
