You can add a car to an existing AAA policy online, over the phone, or in person.
While any of these options will be effective, each has different benefits and drawbacks. Here’s what to expect:
Online: While phone calls and in-person meetings come with a personal touch, changing your plan online will only take a fraction of the time.
Over the phone: The online platform can be challenging, especially for less tech-savvy individuals. Speaking directly with a representative can make things easier—plus you can ask about multi-car or good student
In-person: Although phone calls are convenient, they often come with long wait times and elevator music. Seek help from an insurance pro to update your coverage and get on with your day.
To make sure the process goes smoothly and quickly, don’t forget to gather the necessary information beforehand. You’ll likely need:
Your policy number
The make, model, and year of your car
Your vehicle identification number (VIN)
Your license plate number (this is more of a “just in case”)
How much information they need partially depends on whether your son is already covered under your policy or if you are adding him as a new driver, but it should be a pretty straightforward process once you contact AAA.
