I bought a second car (Jeep!) as a birthday gift for myself. Now I need to get the new car on my existing policy. How do I add a car to my insurance policy?

Happy birthday! To add your new Jeep to your existing policy, call your insurance provider or make the change in your online account, if that’s an option.
You will need to provide some basic information, such as:
- The vehicle identification number (VIN)
- The license plate number
- Your desired coverage
- How often you plan on using the Jeep
- The dealership’s contact information
Most insurance companies offer a grace period for adding a new car to an existing policy, and this period can be between a few days to a month, depending on your provider. If you don’t update your policy before the grace period ends, you’ll be driving without insurance, which is illegal.
Be sure to ask your insurance provider if you will be eligible for a
multi-car policy
deal. Multi-car discounts can usually save you 10% to 25% on your insurance rates for each car.If you’re looking for savings on both of your cars, try comparison shopping with the
