How do I write about a car crash?
I was recently involved in a car accident, and I need to write down the details so that I have an accurate reference to use during the claim process. This isn’t something I’ve ever done before. I’m not the best writer, so how do I write about a car crash?

I’m sorry to hear that you were involved in an accident, and I hope you’re doing well. Writing down the details of the accident is a great idea. Lots of people forget important details over the course of their claim, and it can lead to complications down the road.
When writing about a car crash, you’ll need to include the following:
- The exact time and location of the accident
- How the damage occurred—if you don’t know this that is okay
- The severity of the damage caused
- Every expense that you have had to pay as a direct result of the accident
- A copy of the police report
- Insurance information for the other driver or drivers involved
- The name and address of your preferred auto shop
- Pictures of the scene
All of this information does not have to be eloquently written; a detailed list will do just fine. In fact, it will make reading and locating information much easier. You want to always stick to the facts and avoid saying things like:
- I’m sorry
- It was my fault
- I’m not hurt
- I think…
Any of these statements could lead to a misunderstanding or weaken your statement. It’s best to get a medical examination after an accident and simply present the facts.
