How do I use credit card rental car insurance?
I saw my credit card offers rental car insurance. I'm going to be renting a car and am wondering how it works. Does your credit card really cover you for rental cars?

rental car insurance
, you’ll want to get further details. You can either look over your credit card’s benefits online or call your credit card company to speak with a customer service representative.Since every credit card company is different, you’ll want to confirm exactly what your card will cover. The card’s insurance may only apply to certain types of rental vehicles, or it may have low coverage limits—among other fine print it would be better to know beforehand.
Most credit cards require you to reject the rental car company’s collision damage waiver and charge the full rental amount on the card, as well.
Another thing to consider is your own
car insurance
. If you have a policy for a personal vehicle, your coverage should extend to your rental car. But similarly, you should confirm this beforehand and ask your car insurance company for further details.If you don’t have car insurance and you decide your credit card coverage isn’t enough, you should consider purchasing the rental car company’s insurance to ensure you’re protected while renting the vehicle.
