How do I use Carly for my BMW?
My kid just got me this Carly adapter that’s supposed to tell you about any issues your car might have. It was an incredibly sweet gift, especially since I try to take good care of my BMW. The only problem is that I’m not exactly tech-savvy (as the kids say), so I’m not sure how to use the app that connects to the adapter. How do you use the BMW Carly app?

Great question, and great kid you have there! Even if you’re not too familiar with smartphones, I’m happy to say that the Carly app is easy to use.
To use Carly for your BMW, start by downloading the app. Here’s what to do next:
- Pair your phone with the adapter. Making sure your ignition is on, go to Settings, then Bluetooth if you have an iPhone. For an Android, go to Settings, then Connections, then Bluetooth, and select Choose Bluetooth. Turn on your Bluetooth (if it’s off), and then hit Search Devices.
- After that, no matter which smartphone you have, choose Carly Adapter from the list of available devices, and enter 1234 as the pairing code.
- Go to the Carly for BMW app and select Connections at the bottom. From there, select Bluetooth, as well as your specific BMW chassis.
- Try running a diagnostics scan. Go back to the app’s home page and select Diagnostics, then choose full system scan. If the app returns any error codes, read through them to understand the issues that the app is spotting, and then clear them. If not, you’re all set and your car has a clean bill of health.
