How do I use Bluetooth to play music in my Ford Escape?

I just bought a new Escape, and I use it to take my husband, kids, and cat up to the family cabin in the Adirondacks. The thing is, our cat, Herb, hates being in his crate, and he hates it even more while in the car. However, we have discovered that he calms down quite a bit when we play jazz, specifically Django Reinhardt for some reason (who is not, contrary to my husband’s claim “on the radio all the time”). How do I use Bluetooth to play music in my Ford Escape?

Pair your smartphone via Bluetooth with your
Ford Escape
’s SYNC infotainment system and your feline child will be serenaded all the way to the cabin.
Pairing your phone with Ford’s SYNC infotainment system is easy and before you know it, Herb will be cat-quiet, lulled to relaxation by his preferred jazz stylings. Follow these steps to pair your phone with the Escape’s SYNC system:
  • On your phone, make sure Bluetooth capability is enabled
  • On your Escape’s SYNC infotainment screen, press Phone, and then press Add Phone
  • The system should be discoverable on your smartphone, and you may see a unique PIN on your phone’s screen
  • On your phone, in the Bluetooth menu select Ford SYNC System—your phone and the Escape will start pairing
  • Your phone and your Escape are now paired, and Herb will finally be quiet
