How do I turn off the “I’m driving” text reply in a Nissan Altima?
I love that my Nissan Altima is equipped with modern technology, but it automatically sends an “I’m driving” text reply when I receive a text. I’ve tried to disable it, but it resets when I start my car again. How do I turn off the “I’m driving” text?

The “I’m driving” text appearing when you start your vehicle is a common issue with vehicles with Nissan Connect, especially certain year models. There are a few fixes for this:
Solution #1:
- While your phone is paired via Bluetooth, go to the home menu on your car screen.
- Go to Settings > Phone > Text Message.
- Under “Text Message,” turn off the “Auto Reply” switch.
Solution #2:
- Unpair your phone from the car’s Bluetooth.
- Go to settings to turn off the auto-reply option.
- Pair your phone again.
If you’ve followed the above solutions, they should keep the automatic reply off, but if they don’t work, you may need to do a factory reset. Here’s how to do that:
- Power off the entertainment console.
- Hold down the “1” button from the preset buttons while turning the volume knob counterclockwise.
- Within a couple of seconds, a service menu will pop up. Select “Confirmation/Adjustment,” then scroll to the bottom and select “Initialize Settings.”
- It will ask if you’re sure—select “Yes.”
- The system will power down for a minute, then come back on. This will erase your entertainment presets, so you’ll have to reprogram those.
- Connect your phone, change the auto-reply to “Off” again (from Solution #1), and it should stay turned off.
