How do I turn off the airbag in my Smart Car?
I have to run some errands while babysitting my 18-month old nephew. I only have access to a Smart Car and I know it’s dangerous for babies to have active airbags on their seats. Is there any way I can turn the airbag off in my Smart Car?

Thankfully, the makers of Smart Car thought of this and you can either turn off the airbags yourself or let the car do it automatically.Smart cars have an auto-sensor in the passenger seat that will automatically disable the airbag for anything under 40 pounds. If you’d rather have the security of manually turning it off, follow these steps:
- Locate the airbag key switch on the far right side of the dashboard
- Insert your key and turn it counter-clockwise to the off position
- Check for the “passenger airbag off” indicator light
- To turn the airbag back on, insert the key into the divot and turn it clockwise to the ON position
