How do I transfer a Toyota certified warranty?

I currently own a Toyota certified pre-owned vehicle. However, I want to sell the car and buy a new one. To get the most value, I’m going to sell the car privately—once I sell it, how do I transfer the warranty to the new owner?

As long as you’re still within the time frame of the
Toyota
certified warranty, you can transfer the warranty by calling the dealership where you purchased the vehicle and asking them to transfer the warranty. This can take up to 30 days, but you pay nothing to transfer the warranty to a new owner.
Keep in mind that you will still have to be within the span of the warranty, which is either a one-year, 12,000-mile basic warranty or the seven-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. You’re likely outside of the basic warranty, but you can probably get a few extra bucks by advertising that the powertrain warranty carries over.
