How do I transfer a car title in Nebraska?

I recently sold my car to my sister. She gave me the cash, so all I need to do is transfer the title. How can I transfer a car title to someone else in Nebraska?

It’s always nice to help a sibling out! To transfer a car title in Nebraska, you need to sign the title over.
To
transfer a title
, follow these steps:
  • As the seller, you need to sign the seller’s section of the title.
  • If you have a lienholder, you need to get a lien release.
  • Provide your sister with a bill of sale or Nebraska Department of Revenue Form 6.
  • Your sister needs to fill out the buyer portion of the title with her name, address, and signature.
  • Carefully go over the title to make sure that everything is in the correct place.
  • Give the signed title to your sister.
  • Your sister then has 30 days to go to the county treasurer, pay the $10 fee, and get the new title.
